Ford Sportsman |
After the Second World War Ford was busy preparing the new postwar cars. In order to add a new look Ford combined the appeal of the convertible with the upscale cachet of the wood-panelled station wagon. The result was the "Sportsman". A convertible coupe with the trunk and body sides covered by mahogany veneer inserts, and surrounded by real maple or birch framing.
The Sportsman was also the first new model to be introduced by Henry Ford II. Henry Ford could no longer manage so his grandson was pulled out of the navy in 1943 to take over as president of the company. Sadly his grandfather (The elder Henry Ford) passed away in 1947
The Ford Sportsman's sales production totalled 3,487.
